Kortney Floyd James PhD, RN
Dr. Kortney Floyd James is a nurse scientist, policy researcher, and clinician with over 15 years of experience in maternal and pediatric health. She’s a health policy researcher at the RAND Corporation, an Assistant Adjunct Professor at UCLA, and an Associate Editor for Nursing for Women’s Health. Her work centers on Black maternal health, with a focus on mental health, breastfeeding equity, and Medicaid policy. She uses mixed methods and partners with doulas, clinicians, and community organizations to make perinatal care more just, accessible, and responsive. As a mother, former pediatric NP and mother-baby nurse, she brings both lived experience and clinical insight to her research and advocacy.
