Identity Crisis

So, I have been going through a sort of professional identity crisis for the past couple of years... Perhaps I'll share that in a later blog... BUT...
2025 will look different for me for a few reasons... Here are 3...

1. I have stopped looking at my place of work for meaning and purpose! Despite the mission statements, all healthcare institutions (academic and service) are businesses and will default to that model every time, and they will let you down if you look at them for meaning and purpose!

2. I have finally accepted that "I" am responsible for creating meaning and purpose in my own professional career! I no longer hope my work will create that for me or feel they need to understand my need for meaningful and purposeful work. I needed to decide what meaning and purpose means in my work and understand that the work that gives me meaning and purpose may not be the same as my job!

3. I have choices... I have always known that but never fully embraced it! I am no longer at a point in my career where I lack opportunities to do the work I want to do. So, now it's just a matter of choosing! Spending my energy where I feel I am of value, being valued, and contributing to work that has meaning and purpose!

I am looking forward to connecting and reconnecting with many of you in 2025!
